Preservation Station is the Heritage Trust's all volunteer salvage and resale program for old house materials. This operation accomplishes three goals: Provide hard to find building parts for restoration at a reasonable price Save valuable materials from disposal and conserve landfill space Raise funds for our grant and educational programs It works like this -- the Heritage Trust negotiates access to a house or building scheduled for demolition. Then Heritage Trust volunteers show up wielding hammers and prybars to salvage useful nonstructural building components prior to demolition. These parts are resold at Preservation Station. The community benefits go even further. Since the entire project is run by volunteers, and is a private non-profit venture, all of the proceeds are earmarked for grants and loans to help preserve and restore old homes and buildings in the area.

Capacity: 190 • Chairs and tables provided • Hardwood floors • Kitchen with range, microwave, refrigerator, and freezer provided • Renters choose their own food and beverage source • Sound system with CD player and wireless microphone provided Main room 2100 square feet • Stage/Head table area 600 square feet When it opened in 1871, St. Patricks Catholic Church served the Irish immigrant population from the surrounding Hibernia neighborhood in Burlington. St. Patricks was in use until 2002, when the Diocese closed the church and began planning for its demolition. The Heritage Trust undertook negotiations with parish officials and was able to obtain title to the building. With funding from Trust members and grants, dedicated volunteers did much of the rehab work, restoring features such as the wood floors and hand-grained woodwork. St. Patricks began its new life as Hibernia Hall in Fall 2006. The facility at 1204 Washington is available for receptions, reunions, and meetings (no religious ceremonies may be held in the building). The Historic Preservation Grant is a 1 to 1 matching grant for exterior preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation projects within the city of Burlington for properties that are at least 50 years or older and can provide up to $5,000 in matching funds. The Heritage Trust Grant Committee will review all applications that have been submitted by December 15, 2015 and will select a project to fund for 2016. Please review all grant criteria and complete the entire application and mail to the address listed on the application before December 15, 2015 to be eligible for grant funding. Come join The Heritage Trust as we celebrate the Annual Tour of Homes with five beautiful historic residences that are sure to capture your attention. The 2015 Annual Tour of Homes returns this year offering tours of five unique properties that exemplify the craftsmanship and grandeur of a time past. The Heritage Trust is proud to host this special event that showcases the amazing architectural assets within our community and share the many wonderful and interesting historic homes and the stories behind them. The Annual Tour of Homes begins Saturday, September 26th from 10:00 am to 4:00 p.m. and continues Sunday, September 27th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. You can purchase tickets at each of the homes during the tour or at one of the following area locations prior to the tour. Advance tickets will be available for purchase for $15.00 at Weird Harolds, The Iowa Store, True Value, and Hy-Vee on Agency.
